Lessons
Rodney and Chris’ Thoughts
Lessons. Life experiences give you plenty of lessons, what you do with those lessons is up to you as to whether you learn from them or push them aside.
Lessons come from failure, winning, and general experience. They show what worked, what didn’t, what you could have done better and what you didn’t do at all.
We tend to learn and grow more from loss and disappointment as opposed to winning, as we certainly won’t win every time.
Reflection and self-evaluation are keys to learning. It’s important to take the time to review what you went through to identify the takeaways to improve as there will always be room to do better.
The feeling after a great result is worthwhile, but what did you do well to make it happen? Likewise, when you didn’t get the desired result, what were the reasons? Could your preparation have been better, could you have focussed on an alternative approach, or could you have drawn on resources around you better than what you did?
Seek feedback. Take it on board and keep working to improve.
Perfection doesn’t exist so we all need to learn from our experience to strive to be better and grow.
Quotes to Remember
“Have you learned the lessons only of those who admired you, and were tender with you, and stood aside for you? Have you not learned great lessons from those who braced themselves against you, and disputed passage with you?” — Walt Whitman, American poet.
“That's the reason they're called lessons, because they lesson from day to day.” – Lewis Carroll, English author.
