Preparation

Rodney and Chris’ Thoughts
Preparation.
One of the biggest reasons for someone not performing is preparation.

Think of competing in a game, event, mission or giving a presentation and the amount of planning and preparation required to perform at a high standard.

Could you compete or present well if you don’t prepare? Maybe. Sometimes.

Would you compete or present at even higher standards if you had carefully and confidently prepared the best you can? Absolutely.

Professional athletes don’t just prepare for games on the training ground. They spend time in the weight room, they study footage of theirs and their opponent’s previous games, they dial in the nutrition and they look after the recovery. Preparation isn’t just about yourself, it’s also about knowing the competition and even where the game is being played. Knowing the battlefield.

Preparation will never guarantee success every time. There will be times when things won’t go to plan, however, together with putting in hard work it will giving you the best opportunity to perform.

Quotes to Remember
"By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” – Benjamin Franklin.

"You can't go out and practice average on Wednesday, average on Thursday, okay on Friday and then expect to play well on Sunday" – Tom Brady

What’s Upcoming?
With three weeks to go until the TCS Sydney Marathon presented by Asics, Rodney’s training has shifted from ultra trail for long endurance and elevation climbing, to fast, flat road running. Recovery from the previous race last week has been excellent.
