Approach

Rodney and Chris’ Thoughts
Approach. How do you approach your day, a challenge, a task or something you haven’t done before? Do you put it off by delaying doing what you have to, or do you tackle it head on?

It could be a conversation you don’t want to have with a colleague or partner, or it could be completing something that’s well outside your comfort zone.

Whatever it is, approach it with positive thoughts. Turn up with an open mindset. Because how you start will influence the outcome.

How we approach challenges can be based on experience and whether we’ve faced something similar or, if we’ve been through something harder and come through it – the next one might be easier.

Sometimes we just delay and delay because the thought of the outcome may seem daunting. The perceived consequence hampers our ability to complete what we need to.

Our approach to completing a challenge can have a bearing on our emotional and physical state if we allow our thoughts to manifest and make the challenge seem bigger than what it actually is. We can sometimes talk ourselves into a negative outcome, before we’ve even commenced.

How will my partner respond? What if my colleague gets offended? What if my friend doesn’t like me after raising this?

Most of the time we get caught in our own head instead of just doing what’s needed to continue and progress.

If the task if going to be tough, break it down to smaller sizes and make a start, once you start, you’ll be closer to the finish.

If it’s a conversation, don’t overthink how the outcome might be, approach the person with respect and use effective communication to be curious, the rest will tend to flow and fall into place.

Don’t underestimate the power of a positive thinking approach, if you think you can, you can.
