Resilience

Rodney and Chris’ Thoughts
Resilience isn’t something you learn from a book or a podcast, it comes through experience, going through challenging times and learning through adversity.

Consistency in routines and repetition, regardless of the circumstances is how resilience is built. Regardless of season, weather or terrain.

Continuously turning up to put your best foot forward.

Physical resilience trends to be easier to develop, but what about mental and emotional resilience? We don’t like being upset or in a negative frame of mind, and that’s what we tend to associate mental and emotional resilience with.

Each experience is an opportunity to grow and add armour to your approach to achieving the missions you’re setting out to.

Do hard things. Challenge yourself regularly both physically and mentally to grow. You’ll be better for it.

Quotes to Remember
"The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” – Nelson Mandela.

“If you’re going through hell, keep going.” – Winston Churchill

What’s Happened?
On Wednesday 10th & Thursday 11th September, Rodney, Chris and the Run Rocket Run team, took on a 24hr Challenge. The mission was to complete as many laps of a track as possible within 24hrs. Non-stop. It was a 1.56km track with 78m of elevation gain & loss. The day chosen was World Suicide Prevention Day. To raise money for Invictus Australia to support our veterans. We lose more veterans to suicide than we do on the battlefield. Running for 24hrs straight over the same section of terrain is a very small token compared to those who served our country and paid the ultimate sacrifice. The day happened to be the only day of endless rain over a two-week period. Being wet constantly for 24hrs added another level of discomfort. In the end, Chris completed an all-time PB of 50km and Rodney finished with 81km, and both were waterlogged for days.
