Commitment

Rodney and Chris’ Thoughts
Commitment. Do your actions reflect what you say you’re going to do, and what you’ve committed to?

Too often we give lip service and say we’re going to do something but may not ever have the intention to.

“Let’s catch up.” “I’ll come back to you today.” “I’ll have it done for you by the end of the week.” How often do you hear something like this but are let down when the objective or response isn’t provided?

It’s very important to back up what you say, through your actions. If you commit to a timeframe, meet it. If you can’t meet it, communicate an alternative, and own up to being wrong as hard as that might be.

If you can’t commit to something, be transparent that you can’t. You’ll earn more respect by saying no, than by saying yes and not following through.

Commitment reflects your character, and this demonstrates your reliability to those around you.

Don’t reduce your standards and commit to what you say you’ll do.

Quotes to Remember
“Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.” – Vince Lombardi

"Soldiers, when committed to a task, can't compromise. It's unrelenting devotion to the standards of duty and courage, absolute loyalty to others, not letting the task go until it's been done." – John Keegan

What’s Happened?
Chris completed his first trail race. The Sydney Trail Marathon 21km. A big congratulations, firstly for having the courage to take the start line and then for grinding it out and finishing within his time set. Mission accomplished. The question now is, what’s next?

What’s Upcoming?
This weekend, Amanda “The Boss” will be defending her win from last year at Hume & Hovell 100km. A huge block of training has been completed, it’s now time to get mentally prepared and go for it.

Rodney has the Blackall100 100km trail race on the Sunshine Coast on 18th October and then backing up the next week on 25th October, he’s competing in the Bondi to Manly Ultra 80km.
